The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the people of the United States and is a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. The Statue of Liberty was dedicated on October 28, 1886, designated as a National Monument in 1924 and restored for her centennial on July 4, 1986

Planning ahead is essential to making the most of your visit to the Statue of Liberty. Please keep in mind, thousands of people visit daily, reservations are necessary and limited. Please be prepared as there are often long lines to purchase tickets and board ferries.

Opening Times

The first boat departs for Liberty Island at 09:30 AM.

The last boat off of Liberty Island is at 5:00 PM, from Ellis Island at 5:15 PM. If you wish to visit both islands, we strongly suggest arriving on a ferry leaving mainland by 1PM
